This is it! Maestro Eduardo Leandro’s grand inaugural concert as GBS’ new Music Director and Principal Conductor!
We’ve promised an amazing night of music and the concert on May 10 will live up to the show’s name, Something Big! Pianist Andrew Armstrong, a perennial favorite of GBS who got his professional start here some 20+ years ago, will play Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2,” and the orchestra will also render Mendelssohn’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” overture and Brahms’ “Symphony No. 4. “ “I want to present music that the audience will really enjoy, and that the orchestra will love to play,” Maestro Eduardo said.
This concert is on the eve of Mother’s Day. What a great way to spend the night out with family!
WOULD BE NICE IFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF SOMEDAY ,IT WOULD SAY NOW PLAYING AT THE POLI PALACE
Len, any plans for the ocean sea grill building??????/ Been closed forever as well it seems
Coach T,
While I do not know your real name, I respect the responses to OIB and other posts you make.
Joe Ganim has been in office for many years in his two terms, and except for some occaional paint or safety netting to prevent masonry falling on sidewalks, the Poli Palace theater complex remains empty. The development and Mayor’s offices do their promotions but large money is required. And building or reconstruction is ongoing downtown. It will provide many more units of housing it seems at ever higher rent prices? Is the Poli a solution to Bridgeport’s downtown or housing issues?
Yet within the similar time period, the Klein, under experienced management sought by its Board, has opened opportunities to greater utilization and public familiarity to the diverse and broad cultures of the City. Lots of seats getting used for enjoyment, new experiences, and for varieties of culture not practiced previously. All ages receive programing attention and applause is forthcoming from audiences.
Where does the Mayor see an experienced, enlightened, volunteer resident group to serve as Fair Housing Commissioners to meet regularly to hold sessions about and for residences, for owners, renters, and homeless threatened members of the community? Twenty years absent with no explanation from the Mayors? Is there no explanation due? Where is the path for poor and vulnerable to meet their needs with respect and an opportunity to build generational wealth through work? Where is the quality public education establishement with improving outcomes, meanwhile?
Where is any attempt by those in power to model civics education, rights and responsibilites, for all citizens to practice daily? Time will tell.
well i remember they had the new yorker who wanted to tranform it all but no finance ……………..affordable housing in the downtown area??????/ so much money has gone into the downtown area in recent years to try to revitalize it and in MY OPINION more work needs to be down . Some Affordable hosing should be added but understand not low income. Their’s a difference
