City Councilwoman Maria Pereira turns herself in Friday morning.

City Council members Maria Pereira, Alfredo Castillo, Jazmarie Melendez, and Democratic Town Committee Vice Chair Wanda Geter-Pataky on Friday turned themselves in to State Police Barracks in Bridgeport following warrants issued in connection with election fraud from the 2023 mayoral race..

Wanda Geter-Pataky does the same.

Awaiting details from the arrest warrants and actual charges.

Pereira supported John Gomes for mayor while Geter-Pataky and Castillo backed Mayor Joe Ganim’s reelection in what became a circus atmosphere in an historic election marred by ballot stuffing into four designated drop boxes and allegations of ballot harvesting and threats against senior citizens to sign ballots.

The mayoral race was not decided until February 2024 after a state judge ordered a new election. Ganim was declared the certified winner after four elections, two primaries and two general elections.

Bridgeport politics is the ultimate competitive sport, a place where egos brag about delivering a vote to buoy a win for a candidate. Sometimes that attitude negotiates against self interest. Push hard and you receive pushback.

  1. Lennie, what about Alfredo Castigo (Punishment). Shou I put out a BOLO Alert now? Is he just waiting for the ‘Coast is Clear’ text and dash into the Barracks.

As for that State Trooper who falsely stated that people wanted by State Authorities do not turn themselves in at Troop G(onzalez), Dress Warm, by Tomorrow, You Will be Working in Siberia.
