Phase 3 Starts: Support Bridgeport Businesses

Mayor Joseph Ganim and City Officials remind residents and local businesses that today is the start of Phase 3 of Governor Lamont’s plan to Reopen the State of Connecticut. Effective today, changes are made to increase the capacity for indoor and outdoor activities including dining, personal services, entertainment, religious gatherings.

Social distancing guidelines, including face masks, remain mandatory to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Mayor Ganim and City Officials remind all residents and business owners that these policies, albeit increasing capacity, will be monitored and enforced by the City’s Health Department.

The changes made to the statewide policies governing the reopening of Connecticut are as follows:

— Indoor activities including dining, personal services, barbershops, and libraries increased capacity from 50% to 75%.

— Indoor performing arts can now open at 50%.

— Outdoor event venues capacity increased from 25% to 50%.

— Commercial establishment gatherings: Indoor 50% capacity, capped at 100. Increased from 25 people; outdoor capped at 150.< -- Graduations are now permissible: Indoor 50% capacity, capped at 200; outdoor 50% capacity capped at 150. -- Religious gatherings: increased from 25% to 50% capacity, capped at 100 for indoors, 150 for outdoor gatherings. -- Bars and nightclubs remain closed.
