Simple donald trump. My last time voting for a Democrat was 2012. I voted republican in 2013 2014 2015 2016 I even registered a republican. But over the last 2 years I’ve noticed people coming out as plane racist simply because of this president. As ove gotten older I have became more conservative but at the end of the day all people see is my brown skin tone and to me that is way more important than my political views. I voted a straight democratic ticket at black rock after 6 years of not voting for a Democrat period. And the numbers showed lamont beat stefanwoski by over a 2 to 1 margin 1,462 to 692. The turnout around bridgeport was amazing. There was a line out the door at my polling place at 7 30 am something I have not seen from 2008. Alot of people who do not vote in midterms in bridgeport came out and voted this time around because of trump. My vote for lamont was not because of ganim or the local Democrats getting out the vote it was simply a vote against donald trump. O voted for trump 2016 but wanted to make it right on 2018 not voting for no republican
A Blue Wave, a win… Not a mandate regardless the source of inspiration. The inspired majority still voted to rehire and promote those who were as responsible for the state’s dire situation as Malloy was. I split my ballot accordingly.
Sure Bob, explain why Dennis Bradley got over a thousand Moore votes than she did considering the fact that Bradley did get CEP funding and wasn’t on the WF line.

You do know the on general elections folks don’t have to vote for the candidate with same party affiliation. I split my ballot as if it was an apple pie. Dennis’s district covers part of Stratford and there are quite a few independent registered voters on both Senatorial districts. This election was expected to be decided by registered independents, maybe Lennie will look into the effect of the registered (I) on the results. Looks like Lamont took a bigger bite of the independent apple pie.

There’s not a thing voters can do to redistrict. Districts are drawn by the legislature after the census every 10 years.
The legislature will do its best to keep whole towns in a district where possible. That’s why all of Trumbull is in D22, and GA123 comprises 3 of the 4 Trumbull voting districts.
Districts cross town lines to keep the population in a district approximately the same.

There are virtually no Independent registered voters in these Senate Districts. The Independent Party cross endorsed the Republicans. You actually are referring to UNAFFILIATED voters. In Trumbull there are approximately 25% Democrat, 25% Republican and 50% Unaffiliated registrants. The Independent and Green Party registrations are next to nothing.

Joel, you’re only looking at the Bridgeport state senate numbers. The Bridgeport portion of Bradley’s senate district has thousands more voters than the Bridgeport portion of Moore’s district. Overall, when factoring in other towns Moore received thousands of more votes than Bradley.
IMHO..disgust with Donald Trump was the main factor and this was the first election that Connecticut voters were able to express that disgust. I also think think that some urban voters saw that Stefanowski was a disaster for the urban areas. Ultimately,it was still disgust with Trump that drove the “good” turnout. If you look at “governor” elections in CT. in the post WW II period,you see a ping-pong effect. It goes from a Republican governor to a Democrat and back to a Republican etc. Democrat Governors have about a 10 year advantage because of the longer tenures of Abraham Ribicoff,John Dempsey and Bill O’Neill. Otherwise,it’s pretty even. This is why the Malloy haters are simply wrong.

Stefanwoski labeled ned as malloy part 2 but I think voters were smart enough to know each candidate is different and stefanwoski giving trump a a rating definitely was the icing on the cake for me. Lamont flip towns that voted for Foley example fairfield. Fairfield voted for Foley by a 1,000 vote margin in 2014 but voted for Lamont by a 1,000 vote margin in 2018. Stefanwoski only line was cut taxes!!!! People care about health insurance and a lot of other issues besides just taxes
Donj, the turnout or result in Fairfield could have more to do with Tong who is from Fairfield being on the ballot. If we factor in Senator Murphy and Himes or the other Dems on the ballot, I think that this is more likely a factor as Donald Trump was not on the ballot.

I worked at Trumbull’s District 2 poll as Asst. Registrar. This
Gerrymandered district always had the lowest turnout. They stuck the polling place in the far northeast corner of town (St Joseph HS) and expect people from southern Trumbull (Read Avalon Gates, Old Town Road ) to be discouraged from trekking to vote.
This election I was shocked by the high turnout from these neighborhoods.
This was the only Trumbull District carried by Marilyn Moore D22 and Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox GA123…both Dem Women of Color.
All other Dems lost except the Registrar of Voters which is uncontested.
We worked very hard to make sure every eligible voter who showed up at the polls voted. I recognized an 19 year old from Fairchild Wheeler who lives in Avalon Gates not voting. I asked why and he said he came with his mom who was voting but he forgot his wallet. A checker has said you need your ID and he was not making a 35 minute round-trip in the rain to get his ID. As Asst. Registrar I explained he could sign and swear to identity and vote (there’s a form for that) since he was not a first time voter. He did so and voted.

Au contraire, Joel. Trump WAS on the ballot. 72% of the candidates he endorsed for public office were bested at the polls. Stefanowski was Trump’s man in Connecticut. He lost.
The Donald’s hold on power is weakening day by day. His pick to replace Jeff Sessions as AG will not last. His appointment is being sued on Constitutional grounds. Mueller’s probe will be protected. And the House of Representatives controlled by the Democratic Party is going to pull his covers from now until he is forced from office.

Maria Pereira, the AB numbers coming out of Dennis Bradley’ district are the same as when it was Ed Gomes district. There are other factors that may explain why Dennis did well on both the primary and the election. Example: Dennis speaks fluent Spanish and is of mixed race. Dennis didn’t hire an all black staff and had a truely diverse team of experienced staff and volunteers as apposed to union opperatives, etc.

Bradley’s district doesn’t include all of Trumbull and part of Monroe (Republican towns). You are comparing apples and oranges.
