THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF BRIDGEPORT. The majority of our elected officials have forgotten the simple fact that they were elected by the people to represent the people. In an effort to avoid serving two masters most, if not all of these errant poobahs have chosen the special interest over the needs of the people.

A round of huzzahs for Judge Lopez. She ain’t even dependent on the voters for job security, and here she is taking Mark Anastasi to task for representing the Finch “administration” over the will and the needs of the people.

Take the case of Mark Anastasi versus Carmen Lopez in this freedom of information imbroglio. FOI has been established in Connecticut for decades, litigated out the wazoo, and settled. This being New England, Connecticut had pretty good FOI before there was FOI.

Carmen is actually doing a good job of saving Mark’s bacon when he gets before a judge with this pile of rotting seaweed.

Every time Mark points out “the Finch administration,” Carmen notes it should be “the City of Bridgeport.” Both statements are true; Carmen’s happens to be the legal one when some pain like Carmen takes the matter to court and forces a judge to rule on law.

If Mark came into court with this “Finch administration” stuff by its lonesome, he risks a contempt citation for irritating the judge’s hemorrhoids.

The unkindest cut of all is Carmen noting that as an assistant city attorney in the Mandanici administration she was always working for the City of Bridgeport, not the Mandanici administration. Cut through all this legal baloney and it says: “Hey Mark! I worked for Mandy. Even we wouldn’t pull this stuff!”

If the right Connecticut Post reporter asked the right question at the right time, perhaps the press office in City Hall will respond: “Finch is not worse than John Mandanici on FOI!”

Really? Pray tell.

8:00 pm Steelpointe Blues: PEQUONNOCK YACHT CLUB loses $250,000 if even one boat is left in the water by Nov 1st. The Connecticut Supreme Court granted PYC a stay of eminent domain execution but that was not good enough. They are forced to leave, even while many have expressed little hope in Steelpointe development prospects.

8:10pm – Guest: Local Bridgeport artist Denyse Schmidt, she has appeared in Martha Stewart magazine.

8:30pm – Congressman Jim Himes call in – Health care and financial regulatory reform.

8:40pm – Republicans at the gate in Bridgeport. Two Republican-endorsed candidates for City Council discuss local issues in Black Rock and West End district.

“Bridgeport Now” – local live weekly TV show. Ch 88 on cablevision, Ch 90 on AT&T, and on the net at Soundviewtv.org.

Update on technical problems:
Soundview apologized for the glitch and delay two weeks ago during the Ungag the People broadcast. As for the week prior, I am told it was Cablevision which was responsible for the glitch that prevented the public from viewing the heated and informative debate on Library funding between City Councilman Bob Walsh and someone from the Library board.
