  1. Come on, Stevie,
Get your ass down there and apply. You claim to have great retail experience. You claim Bass Pro is the greatest thing that happened to Bridgeport. You claim you are underpaid and overworked as a sub.
    Make it happen!

    1. This is “ONLY IN BRI8DGEPORT,” not The Bill Finch Fan Club. I noticed he doesn’t come on here. Why is he sending you, Steve? Oh right, because you are oblivious to poverty, crime, failing schools and homelessness. All you can see are shovels in the ground. Tell you what, Steve. We’ll ask the other candidates to carry shovels. That ought to confuse you.

      1. Bridgeport Kid,
I have worked with the homeless in Bridgeport for years. I served on the Board of Directors of ABCD. During the Moran administration I put on a celebrity tag sale at Captains Cove along with Marilyn Goldstone and a few major corporations. I was responsible for negotiating with the Catholic diocese of Bridgeport to buy the St. John Nepomucene convent to turn into a Family Homeless shelter where the city carpenters, plumbers etc. etc. came to support and make it a beautiful shelter on Brooks Street. Do not ever insinuate I am oblivious to poverty in this city. I have seen it all, Bridgeport Kid. I have volunteered at the Pembroke street rat-infested shelter. I have had trucks of clothes delivered to city hall. I had collected thousands of dollars from city residents and personally purchased with volunteers gifts for all the families at all the shelters. I have cleaned up streets on the East Side of Bridgeport with drug needles and you don’t want to know.

So excuse me. Without Mayor Finch and serious economic development, the ills of this city will never be addressed. Your candidates offer nothing nor have they ever seen the things I have seen firsthand. Of that I am sure because there were no cameras where I was!

          1. I can see how well your education served you. Bill Finch is one of the dumbest elected officials I’ve ever known of, and that includes the dorks on the student council back in high school. He is the mayor, yes. How did he become mayor? By misleading the people of the city of Bridgeport. No one cares about the playgrounds, no one cares about the new schools. If the public school system in Bridgeport were receiving appropriate funding and administration it would be turning out graduates, not the steady stream of dropouts it produces now.

You still have your head in the sand and your ass in the air. This mayoral administration has done nothing to improve the quality of life for the people of the city of Bridgeport. The statistics don’t lie: unemployment up 41%, high school dropout rate 48%. And all you can talk about is new playgrounds, a coffee shop, a sporting goods store, a convention center. Are you so fucking stupid you believe economics, education and public safety are not important?

      2. The Bridgeport Kid,
Honestly, I can deal with your insults that come incessantly. You will notice I do not do character assaults on you. The reason is you are one of Lennie’s protected aliases which I do find offensive that he allows his alias posters to get away with it.

I also understand whether I know you or not, it is clear you are not happy we are not on the same team. I can deal with that. Most men or woman refrain from character assaults unless they can stand behind their name. I can accept your criticism if I knew who you were.

If you are imagining in your deluded state I could possibly support any other candidate who offers no vision you are mistaken. If you do not appreciate my posts, you need to treat me as an invisible entity much like you are an alias.

        1. Steve,
TBK is not one of Lennie’s protected aliases.

The Bridgeport Kid is Derek Brown, Black Rock’s most famous guitar slinger.

    1. Maria, he is THE Mayor of Bridgeport.

You sound like the Republicans who do not acknowledge Obama as THEIR President.

The way you talk about Finch, you’d think he lined his pockets with $500,000, purchased fancy suits, drank $500 bottles of wine and all the while he insists to the people of the projects he feels their pain. Finch doesn’t do that! A little respect for our Mayor please.

Yeah, the underfunding is the topic of the day. The new schools and their parks and playgrounds are not relevant!

      1. Steve, all your volunteer work means nothing to me. All you go on about are new schools, new playgrounds and Steal Point. Beautification is pointless unless and until the school system is fixed, until the people are able to earn more than they receive in welfare benefits, until the incidence of violence is drastically reduced. Bill Finch is the mayor of Bridgeport; that title bestows a certain amount of official respect. As a man he is beneath contempt. He has demonstrated a clear and present antipathy for the less fortunate.

  2. Steve, Mayor Finch is not my mayor. He perpetuates fraudulent AB operations with the likes of Lydia Martinez. He illegally underfunded the BPS in violation of state law. He bought people’s DTC votes with taxpayer funds, which is illegal. He has easily wasted over $1 million in taxpayer funds through the driveway and the first reevaluation that was tossed in the trash.

He really doesn’t deserve a statue. What he deserves is to be kicked out of office.

That’s why so many volunteers from all walks of life have come together. Except of course Carolanne Curry who is apparently being paid $300 a week.

    1. Hear hear, Maria!

And Steve, no one else here is consuming the Bill Finch Kool-Aid, except you. Give it up, your blood/Finch Kool-Aid level is past the limit of sanity.

      1. So NO ONE ELSE in the Ganim campaign is getting paid except Curry? Not the canvassers, people working the headquarters, etc? Find that hard to believe.

    2. You know Maria, Carolanne Curry could have made more working as a canvasser for Mary-Jane Foster.

Lifelong Bpt, of course Ganim has paid canvassers.

      1. I know he does, was being a little sarcastic. Ganim supporters always talking about everyone else’s paid supporters, but neglect to mention they have their own. Politics. LOL.

  3. Sorry Kid,
I am taking this show on the road. With only two candidates the choice will be clear.

Bridgeport Kid, what Kool-Aid are you drinking?

    1. Unemployment is UP 41%. I’ve cited 8.3% as the overall rate. Unemployment is UP 41% since Finch took office. Get your head out of your ass and read the fucking posts, Bridgeport Rising.

      1. Finch took office in 2007 December, correct?

Unemployment was 7.2 in B’port in Dec 2007.

        Now it is 8.3.

        That’s a 15% increase, not 41%.

Now, what is your next lie?

  4. I think this will be a little reality check. People criticize Bass Pro for only offering minimum-wage jobs. What was the other choice? No jobs? It is not like Remington Arms, GE or anyone else were tripping over themselves to open factories at Steel Point. Finch played the cards he was dealt. That land was vacant for 20? years. You should blame whomever idiot eminent domained the land in the first place. What mayor was that again?

Next thing, say GE did open a factory. Would a kid who dropped out of a BPT school or just barely graduated be able to get a job there? And what job would that be? CEO? If GE moved its cooperate HQ to Steel Point what job would an unemployed BPT kid get with them? Anyone who would qualify for a high-end job with one of these companies would already be working. If you have the qualifications you CAN get a high-end job with Bass Pro. You could be a shift leader or department head. God forbid you work your way up. In most cases, any job is better than no job and having a job NOW is better than (maybe having) a good job sometime in the distant future. If the ‘good job’ comes to town, you can get it then. That is, if the job you get now does not lead to a good job later.

Then, what if Finch chased Bass Pro away like Ganim chased the hotel away years ago? How much longer would Steel Point remained vacant? How much flack would Finch have drawn for chasing away jobs? Even with the tax abatement, the land has already had a 20?0year tax abatement. If Bass Pro moved in and got the same deal before Ganim went to jail Bass Pro would already be paying taxes.

    1. Thank you, BOE–it’s not just about making jobs available. It’s about helping BPT residents obtain the skills to be contenders for the better, high-paying jobs–whether they are in BPT or not. We would all love for the companies to come to us for the tax benefits. But an alternative to that is to better equip our residents. We have so many in BPT who just need the resources and training.
Things like Steel Point may seem like window dressing to some, but these types of developments make your city more attractive to businesses.
