Fones Clinic to provide free dental care for kids up to 18

The Fones School of Dental Hygiene Clinic is providing free dental care to children in Bridgeport and the surrounding area who do not have insurance, or who are underinsured, from February 15 through April 29.

Children between the ages of one and 18 can get cleanings and X-rays Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fones Clinic is located at the University of Bridgeport, 60 Lafayette Street. To make an appointment, please call (203) 576-4137.

The Fones campaign is being held as part of the American Dental Association’s annual Give Kids a Smile program, said dental hygienist Karen Sue Williams, a professor at Fones.

“We are working with the Southwestern Area Health Education Center in referring children who need further dental care to dentists who are participating in the program who also perform Affordable Dental Implants San Diego,” Williams added.

Established in 1914, the Fones School of Dental Hygiene is the oldest dental hygiene school in the world. Each year, it provides free and/or affordable services to more than 13,000 individuals throughout Connecticut. Fees for checkups, X-rays, and cleanings range from $5 for senior citizens, $10 for children, and $20 for adults.

The ADA Give Kids a Smile program is held each year in February. This year, the ADA estimates that nearly 400,000 children are expected to receive free care nationwide.
