I believe I made an error in mentioned Lenoci. That was something else. My apologies there. What I did refer to as far as convicted felons in cahoots in the RCI/StealPointe deal is Tomasso. Look it up folks. That alone nullifies the "deal". Why is no one from the state even looking at this??? What good are charters and state mandates and stipulations if they are not adhered to?

Also, there are 4 parcels of that property. Why not at least get ONE of them under development NOW? Ohhh yes, the so-called $100 million "cleanup" needed first. Why hasn't the state at least gotten that part underway and passed the cost on to the "developer". I doubt the state would wait for RCI to drag their asses in repaying those costs.

I can raise the $500,000 "downpayment" that is going to spike the deal. I did read about a month ago, or so, that was the figure that RCI was "putting down" on the deal, no? Can I own and tie up this property for 9 years for such a small sum too? The city came up with the money to buy out the yacht club, and Tallmadge Brothers Oyster ... Sooo, what is the hold up here? The bonding issues ... Hmmm, goes back to elapsed time and the "convicted felon" issue again, now doesn't it.

Something wonderful could be put up on that site. We should have raised a casino when we had the chance. Ohhh wait; Weicker screwed us on the "deal" with the "Indians". When you have players like Donald Trump and Steve Wynn who could have built that project inside of 2-3 years, and "traffic issues" and the Indian "deal" blows it, well, ok ... More Park City Procrastination. Somehow I do love the city though. Just extremely disappointed that talk is cheap and all too plentiful here.

Also, where is Attorney John Bolton with his words of wisdom? Miss seeing him on Bridgeport Now with Rob Foley last year. Startling, and refreshing, to actually have someone perform some due diligence and resurrect the facts. Brass Balls folks! Can someone step up to the plate and get some real action going within this City, please???

"The other question is why are seniors from a city-run senior center bussed to these free meals and zoning meetings?"

The bus ride includes all the free Prune Juice they can drink.

What I cannot fathom in regards to "Steal Pointe" is how RCI can still be the developer when they were in cahoots with convicted felons, the Lenocis. Also, their failure to pay the city for the property. Does this not violate the city, and/or the state's charter stipulations for the project? If RCI cannot come up with the $4 million, how they hell can they secure the purported BILLION dollars+ required to complete the project?

What about Forestone Partners that seems sooo gung-ho on buying up large parcels in the downtown area? Or better yet, the "runner up" developers DDDG???

All talk and very little action, as usual. Where is Magic Johnson these days? What's going on with Phil Kuchma's building on Fairfield Avenue???

Even a small endeavor, such as the recent paving of the Joseph's Steakhouse parking lot; LONG overdue, by the way, took at least 5 months to complete, perhaps more. Shameful! WTF, seriously. No wonder neighboring town residents cannot take the Park City seriously in any regard. As a former long-time resident, I was excited to think something positive was actually going to happen and lift the City out of its abyss, and restore at least some of the grandeur and prestige of another time.

Seems few people that work in the downtown area care to even support new ventures; i.e. State Street Bistro or Épernay. That Bistro was lovely, yet dead on most nights, and subsequently closed in June after only a year or so in business. I understand Épernay no longer opens for lunches. It is a wonderful place. Sad, considering that thousands of people that can easily walk from their workplaces ignore these gems. Other than Ralph & Rich's, and I suppose Joseph's Steakhouse, to a lesser degree, most of the other restaurants are badly struggling.

Joe Ganim could win re-election. So could John Fabrizi. John was always visible and walked amongst the people; something Bridgeport certainly does not have with the current Mayor. Can anyone take on the "Machine" and truly be a mayor of "the people"??? Perhaps an independent?

OK, I'm done venting for today ;-)

"This entire property is being sought after by the State Department of Environmental Protection with the support of the mayor and City Council," according to State Representative Christopher Caruso's statement. "This property is critically needed to address serious North End Flooding as it relates to the Ox Brook Flood Project ... The alleged owner of this property, who is affiliated with a reputed crime figure, is attempting to change the zone which will increase the value of the property and thus the amount the city and state will be required to pay--effectively holding Bridgeport ransom."

With all the money being doled out to feed, transport, and intoxicate the members of "Bridgeport Tax Paying Citizens Group" Ms. Darlene Chapdelaine, owner of record of the Greenwood Street property, doesn't stand to do much more than break even. All of this simply to inflate the value of one piece of real estate. Few, if any, of the old folks and sports bar denizens carted in for Ms. Chapdelaine's benefit gave a shit about the Master Plan, and fewer still know what a Master Plan is.

Check and mate, Ms. Chapdelaine. Give it up before you embarrass yourself any further.

Kid I would bet that the $2,000,000 is on paper only. They are inflating the price so that when they sell this property to the city for about $3,000,000 it does not look so bad.
You can bet your ass Finch will come up with some BS reason why we should buy this property. Who benefits? Owens, Montinho, Curcio. Who gets screwed? The residents of Bridgeport. The other question is why are seniors from a city-run senior center bussed to these free meals and zoning meetings?

According to Theresa Eigenbrodt's letter to the editors of the Connecticut Post,

"Rather, they are bussed in by Darlene Chapdelaine (the group's purported leader), as they were last night and were paid for their appearance; furthermore, those people received free dinners at Angelo's on Madison Ave. before the meeting, a bar/restaurant reputedly owned by Gus Curcio--a fact that should be of interest to this paper.

[A few of them were bussed in from Little Joe's Café in Black Rock.]

"Darlene Chapdelaine is not a resident of Bridgeport herself and it should be mentioned that Ms. Chapdelaine had the people brought in by bus from convalescent homes and bars owned by Gus Curcio, and cities and towns other than Bridgeport just to look like there is a large crowd supporting the tax payers. This group was comprised of the elderly--who are being disgustingly used by Darlene’s group for her personal gain--bouncers, strippers, other supporters of Gus Curcio and out-of-towners, like Paul Timpanelli and Attorney Dan Portanova."

All this fuss to change the zoning designation of one 9.9-acre piece of property on Greenwood Street. Haven't those fucking idiots have anything better to do? It amazes and disgusts me that people are willing to pimp themselves out for a few slices of cheese pizza and a couple pitchers of beer.

And another thing ...

Who in their right mind would pay $2,000,000.00 for a piece of property in Bridgeport? During a down market, for cryin' out loud?!
