Black Friday … where the Trumbull Mall and Hawley Lane are a madhouse … Walmart in Shelton and Milford Mall and the Post Rd are jammed to the … Bpt? A ghost town … cruisin’ the streets is a pleasure … easy riding … not much in Bpt anymore … is there.

On this Thanksgiving Day morning I would like to echo TC’s sentiments of thanking my fellow vets for their service wherever they may be serving our country, at home or overseas, on land, in the air or at sea, and all our first responders in communities across this great country.

But today, I want to be specially thankful for almost 10 and a half years of a thrilling, never-a-dull-moment stay as a Bridgeport resident which comes to an end on the 30th when that big, 26-foot U-Haul drives away from the corner of East Washington Avenue and Williams Street in the East Side. But I will not say Good-Bye to Bridgeport, but merely Hasta La Vista because I will be here every working day and will continue to be a taxpayer as a city business owner-partner in Bridgeport’s second largest minority-owned law firm. On November 30th, I will resign my positions as a Bridgeport Library Board member and as Judge Advocate of the Greater Bridgeport Veterans Council, and register as a Democrat in some lucky Republican-dominated town of less than 20,000 residents that has been waiting for someone to bring up the idea of a drug tolerant zone for their state rep district. I wonder if they’ll have “Welcome Aboard” packets??? It should be another great adventure. Only in Connecticut! Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

As any teacher will tell you, “character” is what you are when NO ONE is watching. But when you’re The Mayor of Bridgeport followed by some of Bridgeport’s Bravest in a public-housing complex, it’s sometimes hard to be discrete and avoid a public display. Many readers of this blog know that.

I’m sure his intentions were genuine in providing residents with fire prevention information designed to avoid future accidents.
