City Council President Aidee Nieves shares this statement following reassignment of a police captain for allegations he wrote racist texts. I am appalled and shocked by the allegations that Captain Straubel engaged in derogatory commentary about fellow police officers. If any of these allegations are true, Captain Straubel really has no choice but to resign.
